Independent Work-based Learning Opportunity

The DC Department of Human Services (DHS) cordially invites you to participate in our Find Your Future: Citywide Resource and Empowerment Expo.
The expo will connect residents across the District to vital community and government services, as well as to meaningful private sector employment opportunities, providing a #FairShot for every Washingtonian. The event is slated to take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the University of the District of Columbia Student Center (4200 Connecticut Ave NW) from 10-3 PM.
RESOURCE & EMPOWERMENT EXPO
Residents will have the opportunity to connect directly with key workforce and community stakeholders. The event will host a community resource fair, in addition to a private sector hiring event. Are you curious about going to college after high school? Interested in learning how to apply? Do you want to make connections to help you meet your goals? Across the month of May 2025, a variety of virtual & in-person sessions will be offered to DCPS high school students & families to learn about college admissions and start preparing for college success!

2025 Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, DC Scholarship Program

Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, DC is currently accepting applications for its 2025 Scholarship Program, open to high school seniors, current college students, and seminary students in the DC metropolitan area.
The scholarships are varied and generous, with awards ranging from $500 to $6,000. Areas of focus include academic achievement, community service, environmental sustainability, music and fine arts, and more. Many do not require financial need, and several are open to students who are active in the community, even if they are not Shiloh members.One notable opportunity is the Male Youth Project (MYP) Scholarship, created in memory of Gerard O. Bingham, which supports students pursuing college, graduate, or vocational education and encourages reflection on mentorship, aspiration, and service.

Future Leaders in Mobility Summer Program

The Future Leaders in Mobility Program is a week-long experiential program hosted by Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA) in partnership with the Greater Washington Urban League.
Twenty-five rising juniors and seniors in high school will participate in interactive presentations and activities involving brands and departments, along with key topics that influence transportation today. In this immersive program, participating students will engage in and observe the various exciting automotive career paths such as manufacturing, engineering, marketing, public relations, finance, and dealership operations.
The program will run from August 4-8, 2025, between the hours of 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at the VWGoA U.S. headquarters located at 1950 Opportunity Way, Reston, VA 20190.
