Off-Campus Lunch Policy
Juniors and seniors, based on their academic performance and May 2024 DC CAPE participation, will be able to earn off-campus lunch privileges for all eligible terms. Sophomores will be able to earn off-campus lunch privileges for the 4th term only. The following are the requirements to qualify for off-campus lunch:
Qualifications for Seniors
- Must be a senior (have earned at least 18 credits and passed English 11) and a minimum 2.5 GPA on the most recent report card.
- Must have a permission form signed by applicant’s parent/guardian with final online parent approval.
Qualifications for Juniors
- Must be a junior (have earned at least 12 credits and passed English 10)
- Must earn honor roll during the previous term (3.0 GPA or better) OR demonstrated a .5 increase in their GPA from previous term average
- Must have completed all required DC CAPE exams from the previous school year.

Qualifications for Sophomores
Not applicable until 4th term

Procedures
- Once you apply for off-campus lunch and are granted permission to participate in the program, you only have to complete one application for the year. If you do not meet the requirements for off-campus lunch at the end of a term, you will lose your off-campus lunch privileges until your term average meets the requirements. Those students whose academic standing changes after the conclusion of a term do not need to re-apply, but parents may need to verify online. Permission will not be granted to students without final parent/guardian online verification.
- One Card ID Highly Recommended. We strongly request that you USE YOUR DC One Card ID FOR OFF-CAMPUS LUNCH! The lines can be long and scanning the card is faster than entering an ID number.
- All students must be re-screened at security when entering the building.
- They must re-enter the school by 12:30 pm after lunch.
- They may only go to businesses one block to the north and one block to the south on Wisconsin Avenue
- They must cross at the cross walks and obey all pedestrian signals
Revocation of Off-Campus Lunch Privileges
- Privilege revoked for a designated period of time if a student:
- Fails to return or returns late for the class (normally period 03 or PD 04) after STEP (one unexcused absence = removal for one term; 3 tardies = removal two weeks; 4 tardies = removal for one term)
- Is no longer eligible for off-camps lunch due to the student’s term GPA. However the privilege will be re-instated if student becomes eligible at the end of a subsequent term.
- Is suspended at any point during the term
- Privilege revoked for the entire year if a student:
- Gives his/her ID information to another student to access off-campus privileges
- Participates in any illegal activities during the lunch period
