Student Summer Filmaking Opportunity
The DC Independent Film Festival & Forum has been organizing intensive filmmaking courses for the past two summers. This program offers a practical, hands-on experience in digital film production, including field trips to TV stations and studios, screenings, and engaging discussions. Our teaching team comprises experienced professionals in the field of filmmaking, and their expertise is greatly appreciated by the students who have participated in previous programs. Moreover, every participant has the opportunity to contribute to the creation of a short film.
Here are the key details regarding the program:
Dates: July 10 – August 4, with the final screening scheduled for August 5th
Time: 1-5pm (Monday-Thursday)
Eligibility: Open to students aged 14-18 years old
Capacity: Up to 24 students
Cost: The program is free of charge for all participants. However, there is a $45 registration fee for DC residents and an $85 fee for non-DC residents to cover incidentals. This fee is due by June 25th.
Program Content: Each team will collaborate to produce a short narrative film.
Equipment: All necessary equipment will be provided; however, participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops if available.
Requirements: Participants must attend at least 75% of the course to receive a Certificate of Completion and to be listed as Cast/Crew on a project.
