Prinicipal’s Message: December 17, 2023

Greetings Jackson-Reed Community,

As the holidays approach, and there is a time for us all to reflect, I’d like to reaffirm Jackson-Reed’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for students and staff. I understand that the evolving Israel/Hamas war continues to be top of mind for many of our school community members. The strength of our diversity has led to essential conversations over the past few weeks, detailed below under “Addressing Recent Concerns.” As we continue to learn and grow collaboratively, I hope our collective wisdom will lead us all in a positive direction this new year.

Before the break, I want to highlight some of last week’s events and reminders. Tuesday afternoon, our SGA concluded its donation drives and sent along all of the items donated by our Jackson-Reed school community. It was a true display of our R.O.A.R. values in action. Our Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (AOHT) also hosted its “Breakfast for Dinner” event on Thursday evening. AOHT students curated the entire experience in the atrium for their guests, who left full and happy! Student and family events like these are made possible with the support of our Jackson-Reed PTSO. Donating once or periodically throughout the school year supports several Jackson-Reed engagements that benefit the school community internally and externally. Click here to see more information on how to contribute to our PTSO.

The next eNews will be sent on Sunday, December 31. I wish you a restful and fulfilling holiday with those you love.

Tigers R.O.A.R,

Sah Brown
