Jackson-Reed High School Weekly eNews • Sunday, May 7, 2023
Jackson-Reed High School strives to build a safe, supportive, and welcoming community of dedicated and self-reflective learners equipped to joyfully embrace our opportunities for growth on the path to citizenship.
Greetings Jackson-Reed Community,
I hope this message finds you all doing well as we prepare to start this week. This is an exciting week since it is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week! We carve out time this week to celebrate and recognize our Jackson-Reed teachers and staff members for the knowledge, dedication, and care they give to our students and the Jackson-Reed school community daily. Even during challenging times, our educators work to put the needs of our students first. They are truly unique in what they do, and if you have not already done so, please join me in saying “thank you” to the individuals who make a difference. I want to thank our P.T.S.O. and those that have donated to the P.T.S.O. Your contributions make celebrating our teachers and staff possible, which helps to support the mental health of our teachers and staff by contributing to a positive work environment.
As many of you may know, May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health encompasses our psychological, emotional, and social well-being. Many factors can contribute to mental illness, and counselors, social workers, and psychologists are here to support students in need. Families can also connect with other mental health experts by contacting the following:
· * 988 — The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
· * (888) 7WE-HELP — Mental Health Hotline
In closing, I’d like to provide you with an update on our student scheduling process for next year. Our counselors have been meeting with students for them to request their courses for the upcoming academic year. Based on these requests and other information, counselors schedule students into the classes they need for graduation. We want families to know what was requested and provide an early opportunity to request changes. We will post additional information on our website and send out communication on this process later this week. Thank you for your engagement and support as we prepare our students for their future.
Tigers R.O.A.R.,
Sah Brown
