Greetings Jackson-Reed Community,

I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend and is looking forward to the week ahead. This week DCPS plans to release the FY24 submitted budgets to the public by posting them on the DCPS budget website. In addition, I will be presenting and discussing the FY24 Jackson-Reed budget during my Principal’s Coffee this Saturday, March 25, at 10 a.m. – all are welcome to attend.

On Friday of this week, we will host a career fair. During this event, our students will get the opportunity to connect with professionals to learn more about various career fields and explore internship opportunities. Multiple industries will be present, and this program will better prepare our students for post-secondary success.

Finally, I’d like to inform everyone of additional safety measures that started at Jackson-Reed earlier this month. To increase the safety of our students, especially as they come to and from school, we have partnered with the Safe Passage Safe Blocks initiative. Individuals within this program wear green vests and will be outside during morning arrival and student dismissal and inside during the school day. They are now part of our community, and we appreciate them sharing our commitment to keeping students safe.
