Principal’s Message

Greetings Jackson-Reed Community,

We hope you had an enjoyable weekend and are excited to see what the week ahead offers!Although last week was short, several events are worth noting and highlighting. On Monday, Kaichi Mirai High School students from Saitama, Japan, shadowed several J-R students/classes and graced us with a short dance performance during lunch. Mr. Geremia, Social Studies Teacher, and Ms. Lorenzo, NAF Director, coordinated such a memorable experience for both groups of students. For that, join me in thanking them for their hard work!

We hope all parents and families had a chance to hear about the academic progress of your child(ren) during conferences this past Thursday. Teachers shared specific skills students were learning, improvement plans, and their commitment to building solid and sustainable relationships with their classes. Conferences are an excellent opportunity to grow and nurture the relationships you’ve made with teachers. Thank you for partnering with us in supporting student learning.

The activities for the week ahead are all Homecoming-focused: spirit week, a pep rally, a football game, and our Homecoming dance to conclude the celebration. The week of Homecoming is an exciting and joyful time for students and the school. We hope all students will participate in Spirit-week events detailed below by purchasing a cohort-specific shirt, attending the Homecoming dance, attending the Homecoming Football game, or participating in fundraising events with local partners! If students are attending the dance, they must arrive prior to 9:30 pm to enter. A fundraiser for Spirit Week will take place on Friday, 10/27, at Sol Mexican Grill from 4:00–8:00 p.m., where a portion of sales will be donated to Jackson-Reed’s SGA.  We are looking forward to this week’s festivities.
