Principal’s Message: November 24, 2024
Greetings Jackson-Reed,
Last week we held our monthly Local School Advisory Team (LSAT) meeting where we reviewed the enrollment projection and petition process. After an informative meeting with a DCPS school planning team member and a discussion of historical trends, the consensus from our LSAT was not to petition for additional students. I took this recommendation and we will remain with a projected enrollment of 1,732 students for the school year 2025-2026. Keys to reaching this projection will be enrolling more students from our feeder schools, Deal and Oyster-Adams, and reenrolling our current families in the spring.
As you may know, Term 1 marks have been finalized and you can review student performance in Aspen. Report cards will be prepared and mailed to the address we have on file this week. The hard work many of our Tigers put into their academics paid off with many students doing extremely well. It was great celebrating our honor roll students with a snack in the Atrium on Friday. If students need additional academic support, please point them to the interventions we have in place, such as office hours and after-school support centers.
As we begin this week, I’d like to remind everyone that students will not be in school from Wednesday, November 27th, through Friday, November 29th, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The building will also be closed on those days so that our hardworking faculty and staff can enjoy additional time with family and friends. We hope each of you has a safe and restful Thanksgiving.
Tigers R.O.A.R.
