Principal’s Message: May 4, 2025
Greetings Jackson-Reed Community,
This week will be the first full week of May, and we recognize Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Jewish American Heritage Month. Throughout this month, we will celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of Jewish Americans and Asian American Pacific Islanders. In addition to celebrating these two groups, we are excited to celebrate our incredible educators!
This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week, and I want to take the time to recognize their contributions. Every day, our teachers pour their time, energy, and effort into creating meaningful learning experiences for our students. Teaching is more than creating lessons, it’s about connecting with students, inspiring confidence, and shaping the future. Whether arriving early to proctor exams, working through their lunch to host office hours, or staying late to attend a student game or performance – their work makes a difference. Please join me in thanking our teachers for their care and commitment to preparing our Tigers for success.
Lastly, our Advanced Placement (AP) exams begin this week and DC Comprehensive Assessments of Progress in Education (DC CAPE) testing continues. Testing got off to a great start and it’s our plan for that to continue. Let’s focus on the task and make this a positive and productive week.
Tigers R.O.A.R.!
