Principal’s Message: February 23, 2025
Greetings Jackson-Reed,
Last week, I collaborated with members of district leadership, our assistant principals, instructional coaches, and teachers to conduct our Middle-of-Year Step Back meeting.
The meeting entails reviewing the components of our Comprehensive School Plan, reflecting on strategies and progress, and discussing any adjustments that may need to be made. We recognized improvements in our post-secondary academies, in-seat attendance rate, and written responses. This is a testimony to everyone’s hard work and contributions to the success of our students – thank you!
As we looked more closely at our data, one area of opportunity we discovered was our reading growth rate. Growth was achieved, but many students are not on pace to meet their individual reading growth goals. Our instructional leadership team members are working with teachers to provide students with more in-class opportunities to read, write, and speak about complex texts. To ensure students are on pace to achieve individual and/or school-level growth goals, we are also encouraging families to support students reading outside of class time.
Collectively, these slight adjustments will help support students in becoming better readers and overall successful in their educational journey.
