Principal’s Message: December 1, 2024
Greetings Jackson-Reed,
I hope everyone had an enjoyable break and is looking forward to the start of this week. The weather reminds us that winter is here, and we are officially in December!
December is commonly known as the month of giving. I’m proud that our Student Government Association (SGA) is sponsoring a toy drive for Columbia Heights Day Care and collecting care packages for the Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter. Not only do you have these ways to give, but you can also give this Tuesday which is “Giving Tuesday!” We ask that you support our PTSO reach its fundraising goals with financing going towards things such as SGA events, student experiences, and teacher/staff requests. You can GIVE HERE to make a difference in our school.
Another way to make a difference is by continuing to support strong attendance at Jackson-Reed. Our current in-seat attendance (ISA) rate is 91.8% which is approximately 1.5% higher compared to this time last school year. Historical data shows that our attendance tends to decrease during the month of December so let’s make it a point to ensure our Tigers arrive to school and class each school day. This push will also reinforce our core value of “attendance!”
