Principal Brown’s Update for Week of 1/23

I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. We are preparing for the Fiscal Year 24 budget by seeking input on budget priorities from various school community members. We will do this through an LSAT-created FY24 Budget Survey. Please take some time to complete the link so we can hear your financial perspective. In addition to the survey, we will have a budget engagement session during the next Principal’s Coffee that will take place on Saturday, January 28th, at 10 a.m. During this event, you’ll have an opportunity to learn about the DCPS budget process, hear survey results, and share your ideas.

There are so many ways our students showcase their talent in the arts. Last week our choir held a wonderful winter concert, and it was great hearing their voices throughout the atrium. Starting this week, the work of our art students will be on display at Reagan National Airport as part of the Youth Art Walk. The artwork will be unveiled on Wednesday, January 25th, allowing travelers worldwide to see our Jackson-Reed Tigers’ artistic abilities.

January 25th is also the last day of Term 2. As a reminder, due to professional development and records-keeping day, students will not have school on Wednesday, January 25th. We want our students to finish out the first semester exceptionally well and go into the second semester exhibiting our ROAR values. Holding these values means showing respect to others, taking ownership of classwork, attending all classes on time, and being responsible members of our campus. Have a positive and productive week.
