Seeking volunteers! The Jackson-Reed Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) supports funding requests from teachers, administrators, staff, and student groups with grants that meet the needs of our community. Recently these grants have funded lab equipment for chemistry students, professional development for teachers, backpacks of school supplies for English language learners, and much, much more, including the new banners of Edna Jackson and Vincent Reed (our school’s namesakes) on the fencing around the portable classrooms.

As we look forward to 2023-24 the PTSO is seeking volunteers for a few key positions including:

·       Class of 2024 and 2027 Representatives: liaisons with the Assistant Principals to communicate class specific information and planning student celebrations a few times of the year.

·       Treasurersreceives, deposits, and disburses funds; presents financial statements & reports at board meetings; directs preparation of the proposed budget for the school year

·       Fundraising: manage the Give Lively donation site, encourage parent donations, and communicate on opportunities to donate and matching gifts (not as time-consuming as many elementary and middle schools!)

Volunteering for the PTSO is a wonderful way to get more engaged in the school community, and generally less time consuming than at the elementary level. We do not host a school auction and funds are raised primarily through parent donations. Please email info@jackson-ReedPTSO.org for more information.
