LSAT Update for SY23-24
LSAT Update for SY23-24
Hello JRHS families! It’s hard to believe that this year is nearly over. This past week we confirmed the parent representatives for the SY24 LSAT at the annual joint PTSO/LSAT meeting. During the meeting we provided a recap of LSAT activities this past year. One of the most important functions of the LSAT is the advisory role we play in the local school budget process. In January, we conducted a community survey to understand family, teacher, and student priorities and aligned our budget recommendations to those priorities. We heard that counseling staff and teachers in core content areas were both critical areas for investment. Happy to report that the budget increase of over 3 million will be going in part to additional teachers in core content areas and to support additional counselors in grades 9 and 12. We hope that this investment will better support our students in their transition into and out of high school.
We have also tackled topics like teacher vacancies, an improved testing process, course registration/student scheduling and are still working on issues related to facilities and a clear, consistent grading policy. I would encourage you to reach out anytime with questions or concerns and please always feel welcome to join the monthly LSAT meetings!
We are looking forward to working with Principal Brown and our teachers/staff in the upcoming year.
Kind regards – Melody Molinoff, Ed Dieterle, Debbie Bocian, Elizabeth Mettler, and Hillary DeNigro
