Graduation Update
We know you are understandably very keen to learn details regarding this year’s Jackson-Reed High School graduation. We wanted to let you know that DCPS central administration has not finalized and communicated to Jackson-Reed the date and location for the event. However, for planning purposes, we can report that graduation is expected to be held after Senior Clearance Week (June 12-16; details below) and the June 19th Juneteenth holiday.
We know how important it is for graduation details to be announced as soon as possible so students and their families can make plans and ensure that loved ones, including those traveling from out of town, can attend. Please be assured that the Jackson-Reed 12th grade Assistant Principals are in regular contact with DCPS leadership on this issue and will announce the date as soon as they receive it.
Other important dates for graduating seniors to be aware of include the following:
- June 8: Last day of classes for seniors
- June 12-16: Senior Clearance week
During clearance week, seniors will be assigned a time to complete the formal check-out process to confirm that they have met graduation requirements, returned school devices and other materials, and paid senior dues.
If you need financial assistance to pay senior dues and certain other graduation-related expenses, or if you would like to donate to help other families with these costs, please contact Ramona Singletary-Robertson (A-L) ramona.singletary-robertson@k12.dc.gov; Leticia Martinez (M-Z) leticia.martinez@k12.dc.gov; or the PTSO 12th grade representatives at 2023wilsonptso@gmail.com.
Thank you for your patience and we look forward to sharing more information regarding graduation and other senior-year activities as soon as possible.
