Principal's Message

Greetings Jackson-Reed Community,

June is a very special time in schools because of the many culminating events, the main one being graduation. This month reminds us to celebrate students and staff who have made the year and its many successes possible. Your participation and attendance at our celebratory events reinforce our commitment to family and community engagement, and we expect all guests to come together in a manner that respects and values others.

The beginning of June is also an excellent time to gather any school-issued items that need to be returned to the school, such as books, electronic devices, or chargers. Please have our Tigers take time now to look for these items to avoid any delay, fee, or extra time during return/clearance windows.

Finally, I'd like to provide a quick update on our enrollment.  We have enrolled 56% of our students who are projected to be with us next year!  Thank you to our enrollment team and all those families that prioritized securing their child's seat for next year.  Enrolling early not only helps us to have accurate data when we begin scheduling students into classes for next year, but it also gives you the peace of mind knowing your child's place is secure.  If you haven't already done so, please visit our website or come into the office to complete your enrollment this week.  The building will be open on Tuesday, June 4th, so feel free to complete your enrollment after casting your ballot.

LSAT Interest for 2024-25 SY

The Local School Advisory Team (LSAT) advises the principal on the Comprehensive School Plan, the annual school budget, strategic priorities, curriculum, school culture, and family engagement. The LSAT may also advocate city-wide educational issues on behalf of Jackson-Reed. Participating in the LSAT is a great way to be involved with setting and monitoring school goals and priorities.

The LSAT is comprised of:
• four parent representatives elected by the parent body;
• four teachers;
• a Washington Teachers Union representative;
• a non-instructional school staff representative;
• a parent representing the PTSO;
• a student;
• and a community representative.

Parent representative candidates must be a parent or guardian of a currently enrolled student. The LSAT meets monthly. If you want to run for the SY24-25 team, please send a statement of interest and a short bio to jacksonreedlsat@gmail.com by June 3rd. Questions? Please feel free to contact Melody Molinoff at m.a.molinoff@gmail.com.

Help the PTSO Reach their Goal!

It’s not too late to support the JRHS community! We hope you will consider donating to help us reach our $150K goal before the last day of school!

The Jackson-Reed Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) supports funding requests from teachers, administrators, staff and student groups with grants that meet the needs of our community.
