Principal's Message

Greetings Jackson-Reed Community,

We are in the first full week of May, which is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, along with Jewish American Heritage Month. During this time, we acknowledge and celebrate the contributions that members of these communities have made.

Last week, our students embarked on their DC CAPE exams, and we are delighted to share that everything went according to plan!  We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the P.T.S.O. for their support in distributing pre-test snacks and our teachers for their diligent facilitation of the testing rooms. As we enter another week of exams, this time with A.P. exams, we kindly request families to reinforce the importance of on-time arrival. This will ensure our students can complete their required exams without the need for a make-up window.

In addition to the beginning of A.P. exams, it's teacher appreciation week!  Our teachers chose this career to make a positive difference in our children's lives.  They go above and beyond by coming in early and staying late to work with students.  They are content experts who excel in instruction and connection experts who excel in building rapport with students.  These are hard things to do, yet our teachers make it look easy, and that's why we celebrate them this week.  Join me in recognizing our Teachers by wishing them a Happy Teachers Appreciation Week!
