Principal's Message

Greetings Jackson-Reed Community,

I hope you've had an enjoyable weekend and are looking forward to the week ahead. We are into March, where we celebrate the tremendous accomplishments of women throughout history. Join me in thanking members of our History department, who will provide information and announcements for students to deepen their knowledge of women's pivotal role in shaping society. March also includes time for additional family engagement through two opportunities: our Family-Teacher conferences and the Panorama survey.

Family-Teacher conferences will be virtual, just as earlier in the year. We recognize we have limited slots for conferences, and you are welcome to email any teacher you cannot conference with for information on the performance of your child(ren). Additional information on signing up will be provided soon. The Panorama survey window is open, and we'd like to hear from as many of our families as possible. Please use the link located below to access the survey.

Your partnership and perspective are essential to us and help us in our quest to become the model urban high school in the United States!

Class of 2026 Field Trip to U.S. Holocaust Museum

Beginning this Wednesday, March 6 and running through March 13th, our 10th grade English classes will be traveling to the U.S. Holocaust Museum at 100 Raoul Wallenberg Pl SW, adjacent to the National Mall. The entire Class of 2026 is afforded this opportunity in conjunction with their study of Night by Elie Wiesel and Maus by Art Spiegelman in their ELA classes.

Coach buses, generously provided by the museum, will leave Jackson-Reed at 9:20am each morning and transport students to and from the museum, with a return time of 12 noon. This means that students will have lunch once they return to the building. Field trip forms were distributed by English teachers last week and need to be returned this coming week. If you have questions, please contact AP Minsker: marc.minsker@k12.dc.gov

Jackson-Reed Ultimate Frisbee Annual Mulch Sale!

Please support the Jackson-Reed Tigers Ultimate Frisbee team through our annual spring mulch sale! We have two types of mulch and one soil conditioner -- order as much as your yard or garden needs! You can either pick up your order at National Presbyterian Church’s parking lot entrance on Van Ness Street on March 30th or some of our fabulous athletes will deliver your order to your yard for an extra fee. All orders must be received no later than March 23rd! Here is the link to order.

If you live out of the area or don't need mulch or soil conditioner, you can support the team by making a donation instead. Funds will help to cover the costs of tournaments, travel, and coaches, and to build up our financial aid funds to ensure that costs will not be a barrier to full participation by any student who wants to play. Use the same link to donate.
We deeply appreciate your support and donations! Go Tigers!
