Principal's Message

Greetings Jackson-Reed Community,

Spring has officially sprung, although the weather may not feel like it. This is a time of year that signals new beginnings and growth, so it’s a perfect time to talk about the importance of enrollment. DCPS enrollment season officially opens later this week on March 29, 2024, and we want all our current 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade families to reenroll by submitting their enrollment paperwork prior to May 1. Early enrollment is essential because it gives us a clearer picture of how we are progressing toward our SY25 enrollment target of 1,932 students and helps ensure we have accurate data for student scheduling.

Regarding student scheduling, we continue progressing and refining our course selection process. Today, we are sending out information on course selection for SY25. Please review and discuss the course descriptions with your child(ren) before they select courses. Our counselors will be conducting class conversations with students prior to their selections and are here to support them. If you have questions, please reach out to our grade-level counselors for more information.

Have a positive and productive week!

Tigers R.O.A.R.,
Sah Brown
Principal

2024 AP Exam Administration

The 2024 AP exam administration will be held from Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 17. The AP exam schedule is set by College Board; see the full schedule here.

Students in AP courses should log into their College Board account and check under "My AP” to make sure that all of the AP courses they are enrolled in appear there. If a student has two AP exams on the same day, they should come to see Ms. Levenson in the College and Career Center to change one of the exams to the late-testing administration, which will be held Wednesday, May 22 through Friday, May 24. See the late-testing schedule on the College Board website here.

Testing locations, arrival times, and school entrance to use will be announced in mid-April.

Looking for Volunteer AP Exam Proctors

Jackson-Reed HS’s AP exam administration involves more than 1,000 students taking 2,500+ exams, which requires many exam proctors. To help lighten the load for our teachers and staff, we are looking for parent volunteers to help proctor exams. Volunteers will need to go through the DCPS volunteer clearance process; see information about this here.

If you can help Jackson-Reed as an AP exam proctor, please fill out the interest form here to receive more information.
