Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Cadet Corps: Thursday, February 22, 1 pm

The MPD Cadet Corps is a program for 17- to 24-year-old Washingtonians to serve as uniformed, civilian employees. Members of the Cadet Corps attend UDC Community College tuition-free to earn college credits; work specific job assignments for MPD; and earn a salary. They will be on track to enter MPD’s Police Officer Recruit Program. See full information here. 

Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) Foundation College Scholarship Application Deadline: Thursday, February 29, 2024  

For more than 28 years, the FCBA Foundation has awarded scholarships of between $5,000 and $28,000 to deserving seniors at DC public high schools and charter schools. Last year, they distributed over $250,000 in scholarships to 24 DC high school seniors. Hagan Scholarship: Application deadline: Friday, March 1, 2024

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship. Applicants must have at least a 3.5 GPA; work at least 240 hours between January 1 2024 and the beginning of their Fall 2024 start of college; and have a 2022 Adjusted Gross Household Income below $100,000. FBI internship for Incoming-Freshman College Students

• Application opens Monday, February 12, closes Friday, March 1
• Summer internship period of June – August 2025

Eligibility Requirements

• Be a U.S. citizen.
• Attend a U.S.-accredited college or university full-time as an undergraduate, graduate, or post-doctoral student. You are not eligible if you will graduate before the program start date; exceptions are permitted if you are continuing your education in the semester immediately following.
• Have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better at the time of application, throughout the application process, and for the duration of the internship program.

Bricklayers Local 1 JATC

Offers 3-year apprenticeships for the following trades: Bricklaying, Stone/Marble Masonry, Tile, Terrazzo, PCC, and Masonry Finishers. Apprentices are also provided with training in the following areas: OSHA 10/30, CPR/First-Aid, Flagger, GHS, Comet, Rigging and Signaling, and Scaffold Safety. Create Your FSA IDs Now

Students and contributor(s) should create their FSA IDs at "StudentAid.gov" now. During the process of creating your FSA ID, there will be a waiting period of 1-3 days while your information is matched with the Social Security Administration. Create your FSA IDs now so you don't have to wait to submit your FAFSA when it opens (the opening date is still to be announced).

Here is the message you will receive after you create your account:

Your Account Was Successfully Created — What’s Next?

Before we can grant full account access, we must confirm that your name, Social Security number, and date of birth all match what is on record with the Social Security Administration (SSA). This process takes one to three days. If you verified your email address, you’ll receive an email once your information is matched with the SSA. You can still use your account while your information is being verified with the SSA.

- Determine contributors

- Student and contributor(s) create a StudentAid.gov account (FSA ID)

- Student and contributor(s) write down StudentAid.gov usernames/passwords, email addresses, Social Security Numbers (or alien registration number for non-citizens), and dates of birth (worksheet here)

- Student and contributor(s) locate 2022 Tax Returns

- Determine value of student/contributor assets:

Value of cash and savings/checking accounts

Amount of child support received in the past year

Net worth of investments

Net worth of any business/farms

- Compile list of any federal benefits received by anyone in the family

- Compile list of colleges to which the student is applying. The FAFSA has space for 20 colleges to be listed.
