Principal's Message

Greetings Jackson-Reed Community,

I hope everyone is doing well as they read this message. I want to share my joy and appreciation for the students, teachers, staff members, and families that came out last week as we inducted over 140 students into the National Honor Society. This program was a wonderful reminder of our students' positive contributions to Jackson-Reed and their community. We are so proud of our students, and I ask that you join me in thanking Daniela Munoz, Science Teacher, and David Heckler, History Teacher, for sponsoring this event. The location of this program had to be adjusted due to the weather, but it didn't prevent a great celebration from taking place!

As you know, this is the time of year when low temperatures and inclement weather can affect our school operations. Last week, we had a two-hour delay and closures, and we had to adjust the location of some classes and programs. I am pleased with how members of our school community responded, and we will continue to post any weather-related announcements and updates on our website to keep you informed. We will prepare for weather-related emergencies this week by conducting our severe weather drill. This drill is done annually and is one of the required emergency response drills for all schools.

We will close out the first semester on Friday, January 26th. As a reminder, there is no school for students on that day due to professional development and record-keeping for our faculty and staff. We want to remind all our students to finish the first semester strong and encourage them to review their current Aspen grades and participate in the many office hours, tutoring sessions, and revision days teachers have made available.

We are here to support our students in earning their high school diplomas and becoming dedicated, self-reflective learners.

Tigers R.O.A.R.,
Sah Brown
Principal
