Community Service Opportunities 2/26
*GOODS FOR GOOD – G4G partners with local nonprofits that provide critical care to economically disadvantaged, underserved, and vulnerable communities in the Washington, DC area. We create community service opportunities to address specific needs of youth, families, and seniors who are homeless/house insecure, migrants, food insecure, or domestic violence survivors. GFG mobilizes and retains the energy and resources of volunteers who provide services and essential goods on a regular and repeated basis. Read more about G4G here. Support one or more of the G4G February projects and earn service hours! Please contact stacey.bernards@gmail.com for more information.
1. “We Care” Gift Bags for Isolated Seniors. Many low-income seniors are confined to their homes and have minimal social interactions, especially during the winter. G4G will partner with We Are Family to bring some extra joy to these seniors’ lives. Make a gift bag to show you care.
2. Cook with your heart. Feed residents at area shelters with a homemade meal. Learn more about the options and dropping off or serving in person (you can look before committing). If you want to cook but cannot drop off, sign up and then contact G4G for delivery support.
3. Create a Personalized Birthday Celebration Box for a Child in a Shelter. Make a difference for a child and their family (you can look before committing).
4. Help organize and manage G4G’s clothing pantry for migrants and refugees. Shifts available (you can look before committing) at G4G’s site in DC (volunteer shifts at the migrant center in MD are currently on hold).
5.Things we collect year-round.
