Testing at Jackson-Reed
Currently, students at Jackson-Reed participate in several forms of standardized testing. Some of these are during the school hours to assess how our students are learning. Exams like the SAT and PSAT are taken to prepare them for college application process. In addition, we conduct Advanced Placement Exams for students enrolled in those classes every spring at Jackson-Reed.
Latest Updates
All students will take either the PSAT (9th – 11th grade) or SAT (12th grade) on Tuesday, October 22. If your student has an IEP or 504 plan, their accommodations do not automatically get applied to these tests. Instead, we need to request approval from the College Board to grant them their accommodations. At this point, the accommodation requests are past due and we can no longer guarantee accommodations will be approved in time. However, if you have not submitted a request already for this year or do not already have a letter stating your child has College Board-approved accommodations, please submit this consent form to Ms. Wells, our testing coordinator, ASAP so we can try to get their accommodations approved.
Conversely, if your child has approved accommodations from the College Board already but does not want to utilize them on this particular test, please email Ms. Wells as soon as possible, but no later than October 1, to waive the accommodations. For example, if your student has approved extended time, they will be required to stay for the entire extended time of the test, and for some students that can be more frustrating than helpful.
