Greetings Jackson-Reed Faculty, Staff, Students, Families, and Community,

We are pleased to welcome everyone back to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope this letter finds everyone doing well and that summer has been a time of relaxation and enjoyment. First, I’d like to thank our dedicated and talented Faculty and Staff, who work extremely hard to provide our students with a quality education that prepares them for post-secondary success. Our teachers bring their knowledge of the content, our staff members bring their area expertise, and together, we are committed to establishing a positive learning environment that allows students to reach their full potential.

During this academic year, our goal will be to build on our success and prior achievements. The main focus areas will enhance our students’ learning experiences and help foster their personal growth. These priority areas include:

1. Strengthening our Academies – Our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs offer our students a challenging curriculum and real-world learning opportunities. We plan to enhance our academies and the student experience by aligning more of our academies to the NAF Academy Foundation model.

2. Literacy Across the Curriculum – Reading comprehension plays a role in every content area, and we will establish a structured approach to be implemented in every classroom to improve students’ literacy skills.

3. Attendance – We recognize the importance of students coming to school and how absences affect student learning. We have established a comprehensive support system that includes additional interventions for students most in need.

As we begin this year together, I encourage everyone to embrace our core values of Respect, Ownership, Attendance, and Responsibility. These values help foster a culture of care within our school and allow our students, Faculty, and Staff members the opportunity to learn and work in a safe and welcoming environment.

We will be hosting orientations and Back to School Night events soon. These are great ways to meet Faculty and Staff members and learn more about our school. With the effort of our incredible students, the talent of our dedicated Faculty and Staff, and the support of our families, the 2023-2024 school year will be a huge success!
