9th Grade Summer Bridge was a Huge Success!
Jackson- Reed welcomed rising 9th graders with the Summer Bridge Program from Monday, August 7th to Friday, August 11th. Our NAF Department introduced students to Principal Brown, 9th Grade Resident Principal McKenzie, the 9th Grade Student Support Team (Deans, Professional School Counselors, and Attendance Counselors), and Student NAF Academy leaders who outlined the Jackson-Reed R.O.A.R. values. The weeks’ worth of programming included a scavenger hunt, a 9th grade fair highlighting C.T.E., NAF, and club opportunities, workshops led by the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking focused on financial literacy and college and career preparation, breakout sessions on high school- 101 (organization, branding, college prep, etc.), and concluded with a historical tour of Reno Park. Overall, students left feeling prepared and less nervous for their first year of high school. Another big thank you to our esteemed NAF Academy Directors, Ms. McClure, Mr. Wims, and our newest team member, Ms. Lorenzo, for coordinating and supporting all the events throughout the week. Also, thank you to the following teachers for taking time out of their summer breaks to welcome our incoming freshmen: Ms. Webb, Ms. Green, Mr. Salas, Mr. Ghosh, Mr. Heckler, Ms. Eichen, and Mr. Whyten.
